an eyeful of greenery at phulchowki - posted on 12 june 2011

went for a couple of hours to the top of phulchowki today. this is the highest mountain (about 2700 m) in the kathmandu valley rim. the weather at the top altererd between blue skies, white mist and drizzle.. but it was the greenery along the way that soothed my city-concrete-weary eyes...

a board at the bottom of the mountain boasts of the bounties of phulchowki... the goddess at the top, the 300 species of birds, the 250 types of butterflies along with other beasts...
a feast of greenery.. of various hues.. deep bottle green to bright nearly neon green...
the nearer to the top the more mossy the environment...
the ntv tower at the top
a hazy view of kathmandu.. the green flat patch at the left bottom is the bistachhap valley, near kot...
the steps leading to phulchowki mai shrine.. built by the army...
the newer idols of the shrine..
... and the the original one...
...ferns aplenty...
... orchids galore...
...moss up close...
... trees play hide and seek with the clouds...
a glimpse of godavari marble quarry at the bottom left...
...trees... trees... trees.. more trees
... and amidst the verdant jungle... there is of course the constant background music of bird calls...
... ferns by the wayside...
ahhhh greeeeeeeeen!
