klouds 'n' kot -- posted on 22 october 2010

baba and i went up to kot after many many months.. and were treated to a feast of great post-monsoon views of the mountains, the valley.. all made even more tantalising with the presence of clouds... nothing to add romanticism and mysticism to the himalaya than a dash of clouds...

when went up the mountains were largely covered by clouds

then they started peeking either above the clouds like gaurishankar...

beneath it like melungtse...

... or behind it like annapurna ii

watch this scene to the south west where the sun is dipping behind the mountains.. see what happens to the colour of the the sky and clouds.. and of course the mountains playing lukamari with the badal

just look...

that's machhapuchhre in the centre...

and this is the moon.. playing hide and seek with the bamboo leaves

stars in the valley... in the dark...

and more visible with the help of my 'night-vision' camera!!

.. voila the next morning.. some fog over kathmandu

and yonder to the east.. 'gun-point' mountain.. could the red glow to its side be above everest??

back-lit cascading clouds over gaurishankar

and sunlight hitting shishapangma

it's langtang's turn next

ganesh himals wake up over a still sleepy kathmandy valley

a club sandwich of ruddy sunrays, shadow on chandagiri..and fog over bagmati...

didn't realise that chobhabhamare was so rugged and jagged...

the balcony with the view!!
