last week we also went for a half day trip to cambridge. it was a very memorable trip for several reasons: that it was kripa's friend's birthday, that we managed to do some punting.. and sadly, the day my camera died on me.. again
no, we did not take the plane to cambridge.. this is a qantas jumbo making a turn right after take off from heathrow.. the m25 motorway goes right past heathrow...
the drive through the english countryside was very pleasant indeed.. up and down rolling hills...
...past fields of ripening wheatfields...
...past pastures where holstein cows were grazing...cows remind me of deviji's dairy
...past hamlets hidden in between trees...
...with wildflowers adorning the sides of the motorway...
and 'neath a clear blue sky zigzagged by the contrails of jets flying above 30K feet
then as we neared duxford we noticed little planes buzzing about here and there. remote control planes, we conjectured.. except as we got nearer and nearer on the winding highway, they seemed to get larger and larger... they were really airplanes.. world war vintage ones. then as we turned one bend.. we saw this plane dipping right over the highway to land on an airstrip nearby.
there were two planes imitating a dogfight.. this one...
.. and this.. learnt later that they were practicing for an air show the next day. also learnt later that there is a phaymouse war museum here http://search.visitbritain.com/en-GB/Details.aspx?ContentID=129847
and the way this one was bearing down on us.. we almost felt a rat-a-tat-a-tat... and bullets whizzing past our car!!
soon we were in cambridge... was a strange nostalgic feeling as the emblem of my gce school certificate was etched everywhere in the city!
